The Company

Palacio de Oriente has always stayed loyal to the main principal upon which it was founded, quality. This remains the day to day objective of the 120 people who work within the organisation.

The company runs two factories, a warehouse and central office buildings:

The first factory is located in Bueu (Pontevedra), an area with a greatly developed fishing industry. This factory produces almost every type of canned fish and speciality seafood product: tuna , shellfish, molluscs like mussels, scallops and razorshells, cephalopods like squid and octopus and of course the traditional pelagic species like sardines and garfish. Bueu is also the location of the warehouse, from which all the produce is dispatched directly to customers and other distribution warehouses throughout Spain.

The second factory located in Celeiro (Viveiro-Lugo) in the heart of the Mariña Lucense, is dedicated to the production of tuna and in particular our traditional Albacore Tuna.

All this activity is co-ordinated from the Headquarters in Vigo, the city in which the company was originally founded.

All our production processes combine the experience acquired over 100 years of company history with the latest technologies, resulting from great investments made within the company.

In 1994, Conservas Antonio Alonso gained ISO 9002 certification, the international quality standard from which the production monitoring system was set up. This system guarantees product quality and therefore the satisfaction of the customer.

In 2001 the company decided to strengthen its commitment to the environment by conforming to the ISO 14001 standard. This guarantees the implementation of a range of controls and measures to prevent any damaging effects to the environment. These controls are continuously improved upon.

In the same year, due to rapid advances in communication and information technologies, Palacio de Oriente started using an online system called mySAP.com. This system was designed specifically to aid and speed up the decision making process allowing a more rapid response to customer queries.
